About Us

 Update 2012 ~

Hey everybody!

It's been a while since we've posted, but we haven't been dormant. In fact, we've been busier than ever in terms of writing articles.  We're now both editors at the Daily Free Press, Boston University's independent student newspaper, and we're having the time of our lives covering shows/movies, conduction interviews, and more! Lucien is the music editor and Michela is the film & tv editor. A lot of our writing goes here (http://dailyfreepress.com/category/the-muse/) and we've made portfolios of our writings and more!

And as always, thanks for stopping by!

 Common Ground ~
Deep in the Internet abyss, past the viral videos and all the insufferable memes lies Common Ground, a haven where one can find solace and camaraderie through a shared passion for music.  We are simply two college students fascinated by the complexities of music who have decided to put our love for music in words.

Lucien ~
Lucien, a sophomore at Boston University, was raised on classic rock of his mother. At an early age he found himself listening to The Beatles, The Band, Van Morrison, Led Zeppelin, The Kinks, The Faces, Cream, Pink Floyd, The Allman Brothers Band, The Greatful Dead, The Doors, The Who, Traffic, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson, and more.
As Lucien grew older, he started delving into contemporary and what could be classified as "Indie" music. Aside from the previously mentioned bands, Lucien has immersed himself in the music of  The White Stripes, Arcade Fire, Cold War Kids, The Black Keys, The National, Portugal. The Man, The Raconteurs, Wilco, Modest Mouse, The Decemberists, Death Cab for Cutie, Grizzly Bear, Okkervil River, DeVotchKa, Dr. Dog, Beck, Beach House, Sleepy Sun, Dan Auerbach, The Greenhornes, LCD Soundsystem, Royal Bangs, My Morning Jacket,  and more.  Apart from constantly listening to music, Lucien has also been playing drums since 6th grade, recording an EP his senior year of high school. Lucien is the music editor of Boston University's Daily Free Press and contributes writings to The Arts Fuse.  Lucien and Michela also co-host a radio show on BU's WTBU called Zeitgeist Heist.

Michela ~
Michela is also a college sophomore who after gestating in syncopation to Blues and Dixie Rock in the womb went on to immerse herself in classic rock. Favorites include The Beatles, The Who, The Band, Led Zeppelin, Jackson Browne, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Allman Brothers Band, The Rolling Stones, Simon & Garfunkel, The Kinks, and AC/DC. While a fan of contemporary bands like Weezer and Oasis for a while, Michela has just begun her decent into the underworld of indie rock. Favorites so far include The Black Keys, Arcade Fire, The Cold War Kids, Mumford & Sons, The White Stripes, The Heavy, Fleet Foxes, Dan Auerbach, and The Avett Brothers. Michela additionally finds listening to Indian music a transcendental experience and has come to appreciate conscious rap artists like Nas and Mos Def. Michela has been playing guitar and tinkering on other instruments since 8th grade.  Michela is the Film/TV editor of Boston University's Daily Free Press and contributes writings to The Arts Fuse.  Lucien and Michela also co-host a radio show on BU's WTBU called Zeitgeist Heist.
